Marble Gap
Camping in the Marble Mountains

Camping can be anywhere you want to throw your sleeping bag. The views are great, the air is clean. There are several camp sites around every lake.

Fire permits are required in the wilderness and can be obtained at the Scott River District U.S. Forest Service office in Fort Jones during office hours. ALSO at CDF office in Fort Jones, most early evenings.

In the mountains, you should always have a coat or rain gear with you, summer thunder storms can come up on you quickly. The evenings can get cool at the higher elevations.

The Forest Services, recommends:
  • A water filtering system of some kind.
  • Good fire safety with your camp fire.
  • A properly located latrine.
